Taster & Come-and-Shoot Sessions
Taster & Come-and-Shoot Sessions
Try Archery with Targeting Archery
If you’d like to experience archery in a fun, social setting — without committing to a full beginners’ course or club membership — our Taster and Come-and-Shoot sessions are perfect for you.
Taster Sessions
The best way to start archery!
No experience is needed — our Archery GB qualified coaches will guide you through the basics of shooting safely using a recurve bow.
Sessions last 1 hour, includes all equipment, and one-to-one coaching cost £25 per person.
Minimum age is 8 years (no upper limit, provided you can draw a bow safely).
Come-and-Shoot Sessions
After completing a Taster Session, you can join our Come-and-Shoot sessions to continue practicing and enjoy archery in a relaxed, social environment.
These sessions are ideal for anyone — from recent beginners to experienced archers wanting to shoot for fun without joining a club.
Sessions are £15 per person, last 1 hour, and are guided by qualified Archery GB coaches who are on hand for safety and basic advice (but not full one-to-one coaching).
Session Times
Sessions are held on Tuesday afternoons at our Scholes outdoor range:
3:45pm – 4:45pm
5:00pm – 6:00pm
If weather prevents outdoor shooting, a small indoor hall may be used (up to 4 students). Otherwise, the session may need to be rescheduled.
Payment can be made on the day or in advance via bank transfer.
Next Steps
If you’d like to progress further, the next stage is our Archery Beginners’ Course. On completion, you’ll receive a certificate that allows you to join Targeting Archery Club or any other Archery GB club in the UK.
You’re also welcome to continue attending our Tuesday sessions after joining a club.

Archery is a fantastic activity for children aged 8+, building skills like:
