Q: Is archery safe?
A:
Yes. Archery is extremely safe when supervised correctly. All sessions are led by Archery GB-qualified coaches at approved venues with strict safety standards in place.
Q: Are you insured?
A:
Yes, Targeting Archery is fully insured for all sessions, including coaching, taster sessions, and events.
Q: Who can take part?
A:
Almost anyone!
Minimum ages: 8 years (Taster Sessions) and 10 years (Beginners’ Courses).
We welcome participants with disabilities, including wheelchair users and visually impaired archers — please contact us in advance so we can prepare suitable equipment.
Note: our outdoor field may become soft or muddy in wet weather, which can make wheelchair access difficult.
All sessions are delivered in English, and participants must understand safety instructions clearly.
Q: What should I wear for archery?
A:
Dress for the weather — layers for cold days, sunscreen and sunglasses for sunny ones.
Clothing should be close-fitting to avoid catching the bowstring.
No hoodies with cords, loose sleeves, or dangling jewellery.
Piercings that may interfere with shooting should be covered or removed.
Shoes must be sturdy and closed-toe (no sandals or flip-flops).
Shoulders and midriffs must be covered; clothing with offensive logos is not allowed.
Sports hijabs are permitted if close-fitting.
We may refuse participation if clothing or footwear is unsafe.
Q: When do sessions take place?
A:
Taster & Come-and-Shoot: Tuesdays (afternoons).
Beginners’ Courses: Usually weekends, with occasional Thursday evening courses in summer.
Club Sessions:
Saturdays (year-round)
Thursdays indoors (winter)
Tuesdays outdoors (summer)
Booking in advance is required, and an Enrolment Form must be completed before your first session.
Q: Can I leave my child during the session?
A:
No. A responsible adult (18+) must stay throughout the session for all under-18 participants. For children’s parties, one supervising adult per four children is required.
Q: Are refreshments available?
A:
No, please bring your own refreshments (no alcohol)
Q: What language are courses taught in?
A:
All sessions and courses are taught in English only. Participants must have a good technical understanding of English to follow safety and instruction briefings.
Q: How do I pay?
A:
Preferred: Bank transfer (details available on request).
Also accepted: Cash.
Not accepted: Cheques or card payments.
Payment is due at or before each session (depending on type). Parties must be paid in advance.
Q: Can we bring alcohol to a party or session?
A:
No. Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited at all archery sessions. Anyone suspected of being under the influence will be refused participation.
