Disabled Archery at Targeting Archery
At Targeting Archery, we are passionate about making archery accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. Archery is one of the few sports where disabled and able-bodied participants can compete side by side on equal terms — a testament to its adaptability and inclusivity.
At our Scholes location, we make full use of the accessible facilities and its adjoining grounds The outdoor shooting area provides flat access suitable for wheelchair users (though the surface can become soft in wet conditions), and the small hall features ramp access for indoor sessions. Dedicated parking spaces for disabled archers are also available on-site.
Our winter indoor range at St Luke’s Hall is easily accessible, has a parking area at the end of the hall and also has good off-street parking.
Both our ranges have accessible toilets.
We proudly coach archers with a wide range of disabilities, including wheelchair users and visually impaired archers. Every archer receives tailored coaching, adaptive support, and the use of suitable equipment to help them achieve their personal goals. Where necessary, we go further — sourcing or even handcrafting specialist equipment to meet individual needs. From custom-built wheelchair quivers to modified bow stands, our goal is to make every archer’s experience as comfortable and rewarding as possible.
If you’ve ever wanted to try archery but felt that a disability might prevent you from taking part, we’d love to hear from you. Come along to one of our shooting sessions or contact us to discuss your specific requirements — together, we’ll find a way to get you confidently shooting and enjoying this fantastic sport.
