Beginners' Courses
Learn to Shoot with Confidence
Before joining any UK archery club, you’ll need to complete a Beginners’ Course.
This course teaches the essential skills and safety standards needed to shoot confidently up to 20 yards (16 indoors) and earn your Certificate of Safe Shooting, which allows you to join most Archery GB–affiliated clubs across the UK.
What You’ll Learn
Our qualified coaches will guide you through:
Range safety and etiquette
Correct shooting technique and accuracy
Setting up and packing away equipment
Shooting up to 20 yards by the final session
Basic scoring and scorecard use
Intro to bows, arrows, and shooting styles
Competition basics and technique tips
Equipment & Progression
All equipment is provided — please don’t buy your own yet.
Once your form is consistent (usually after ~6 months), we’ll help you choose and set up your personal kit. until then we can hire you a kit to use on our range.
We’ll also cover basic equipment care and how to continue your archery journey after the course.
Course Format
4 sessions, typically Saturdays, 1–4 pm (occasionally 3 longer sessions, 1–5 pm)
All sessions must be attended to complete the course and receive your certificate
No refunds once the course has started

Longer sessions may not suit younger juniors.
Minimum Age
10 years and older (must be physically able and mature enough to participate safely)
Ages 8–9 may attend Taster or Come-and-Shoot sessions
Under 18s must be supervised by a responsible adult throughout
Cost
£80 per person, payable in advance.
